BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY
Course # 6691, 1st or 2nd semester, Credit: 0.5
Basic Photography is for students interested in learning the techniques necessary to produce good photographs, as well as the responsibility of caring for photographic equipment using the 35 mm format. Areas of study will include, but are not limited to: the composition of good photographs; the processing of black and white photographic materials; and proper application of equipment, supplies and special darkroom techniques. Equipment and supplies will be provided and cameras will be available for students who do not have access to a 35mm camera.
Prerequisites: None. Open to grades 10, 11 & 12. Course Lab Fee: $40.00.
COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY
Course # 6701, 1st or 2nd semester, Credit: 0.5
This course is designed for someone interested in the modern methods of color photography using the 35mm format. Areas of study include, but are not limited to: the principles of color and light; elements of a good photograph; producing negatives, slides and photographic prints from both negatives and slides; and preparing photographs for display. Digital photography with regards to capture, scanning, storage, and the use of a digital darkroom will be explored. Equipment and supplies will be furnished. Cameras are available for students who do not own or have access to a 35mm camera. Basic Photography and Color Photography together have articulated credit with College of DuPage.

INTERMEDIATE PHOTOGRAPHY -
BEYOND BASIC, Course # 6812, 2nd semester, Credit: 0.5
In this intermediate level course, students will be expected to improve upon their current level of photographic ability. In terms of technique, this will involve the introduction of the medium and large format camera and the zone system (a procedure which will allow students to make more carefully controlled photographic prints.) Additionally, some non-traditional films, papers, and emulsions will be introduced. In terms of content, through class assignments and independent works students will begin to use the photographic medium to more effectively articulate ideas. Students may work with black and white film, color film, and digital cameras to capture images.
Prerequisite: Basic Photography and Color Photography with instructor approval. Open to grades 11 and 12. Course lab fee: $40.00.
PHOTOGRAPHY INDEPENDENT STUDY
Course # 6907/6908 - 1st or 2nd semester, Credit: 0.5
This course is designed for those students wishing additional preparation in Photography.
Prerequisite: DEPARTMENT APPROVAL. Open to grade 12 only.
